Mindful.

Study #10

all text and images from Abigail Weibel

mindfulness,

being aware of the present without judgment.

there are many different types of mindful meditation, including (but not limited to) body scans, breathing exercises, and walking meditations. it has been shown to improve attention and sleep as well as decrease anxiety, pain and stress. variations of mindfulness can be practiced anywhere, anytime.

being present with myself has become a powerful daily tool. it is my first line of defense when i notice my heart rate increase in that uncomfortable way we’re all familiar with. i’ve been relying on it more heavily throughout this pandemic and i encourage you to give it a try. be kind, patient and non-judgmental with your emotions and thoughts.

below is a simple grounding exercise,

use it as a checklist to reorient yourself back to the present when you feel overwhelmed or disconnected.

5 | items you see

4 | textures you touch

3 | sounds you hear

2 | scents you smell

1 | thing you taste
